The Semi-Annual Business Meeting in Brussels:
7th March 2008 The Semi-Annual Business Meeting will take place on 7th March 2008 in downtown Brussels, near the Grand Place. The main theme will be “Developments in Information Technology (“IT”) Strategies for Accounting and Tax Consultancy Firms”. It will be a one-day seminar, with external speakers from the IT industry for accountancy firms to develop and extend our views on IT and to investigate our opportunities, but also to investigate how we need to keep our IT systems etc “up to date”. The evening before, we will visit a renowned restaurant a few steps from the hotel, Le Carrefour de L’Europe. You have until 10th January 2008 to email your registration form! If you would like to stay longer at the hotel or if you have a specific request, just send an email to Emmanuelle.
Simplification within the European Union:
Good news from the Council of Ministers Following proposals of the European Commission to abolish the current European rules concerning accounting standards, the publication of accounts, and audits, IEC Chairman Michel De Wolf submitted comments on behalf of IEC. We are delighted to announce that the Council of Ministers, while sharing the objectives of the Commission of reducing administrative burdens, did not support the proposals, and this has been considered within the Fédération Européenne des Experts-Comptables (FEE) as good news.
India Delegation : November 2008!
Thanks to Mr. Ramakrishna Prabhu’s thorough presentation in Montreal of the proposed delegation to India, many members answered positively to the project, but asked for the dates to be changed. Mr. Ramakrishna Prabhu has agreed to postpone it to November 2008, hence giving IEC members more time to prepare. More details will be sent in the coming months to all IEC members, including a precise schedule and detailed costs.
Holiday greetings!
Please note that Emmanuelle will be away from 17th December 2007 to 11th January 2008.
